The engine kept racing at idle.but I have modified the carb last week.idle is now under control but dont yet know if my mod will have knock on effects.I have basically disable the vacuum device on the carb that seem to control the idle speed. When the van is cold, the coolant warning light blinks for a few seconds after starting and then goes off as it should. We show you what happens when the coolant lights comes on for your VW or Audi. Check coolant level again look inside the reservoir and the coolant should cover the sensor. So only now are this faults showing themselves.maybe today we will give it a good run.monitor the engine temps with my infra red thermometer.to see if I can trust the cars temp gauge.and see how the carb is behaving.has the original Peirburg.what a horrible carb that is. If the light stays on then it is an overheating issue. Coolant level is perfect, and perfect pink color. ![]() I looked at the temp gauge, and it was approaching red line. My son in law has own this car for a good 2 years.hardly used it due a few issues.that I ended up sorting out.he is not mechanical. Was driving along today, and the coolant warning light started flashing. The motor does take longer to warm up than I think it should.so the stat is well worth looking at.maybe a previous owner has removed it?
